Terms of Service

Last updated 2 October 2026

1. About HausWise

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of HausWise, a shared household management app for iOS, Android and the web, together with the website at hauswise.app (the “Service”). HausWise is operated by SHASTACK INDIA TECHNOLOGIES (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED (“HausWise”, “we”, “us”), CIN U62010UP2025OPC218177, registered office B-174 Sector 20, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India - 201301.

When you create an account, you accept these Terms and confirm that you have read our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You confirm this when you sign up. Parents and guardians may create tasks, chores or meal plans for children in their household, but children may not have their own accounts.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity under your account. One account is for one person, and the details you give us must be accurate. You may sign in with Google or Apple, which is also subject to their terms. Tell us at support@shastack.com if you think someone has accessed your account.

4. Households

You can create a household or join one with an invite code or link. The person who creates a household is its owner. You can belong to more than one household.

  • Members can create, edit and delete shared content: tasks, routines, notices, events, shopping lists, inventory, appliances, meal plans, recipes and shared expenses. Members see each other’s names and roles, the household’s shared content and its activity log. Your email address is not shown to other members.
  • Owners can also edit the household’s details, remove members, create or revoke invite codes and links, connect or disconnect friend households, and hand ownership to another member.
  • Friend households you connect with can see your household’s name, city and country, plus any events and expenses you share with them.

Only invite people you know and trust, because they will see your household’s shared content. Content you add to a household, including expenses you paid or recorded, stays with that household when you leave it or delete your account.

5. Shared expenses

The expense feature is a record-keeping tool. HausWise does not move money, collect payments or settle debts, and it is not financial, tax or legal advice. Every expense recorded in a household, including one marked as personal, is visible to all of its members. You and your household members are responsible for the accuracy of what you record and for any payments between you.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to create, upload, share or store anything that:

  • belongs to someone else and that you have no right to share;
  • is obscene, pornographic, harmful to children, invades someone’s privacy, or harasses or insults anyone, including on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity, religion or caste;
  • infringes a patent, trademark, copyright or other intellectual property right;
  • deceives or misleads people, impersonates another person, or is knowingly false;
  • threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, its friendly relations with other countries, or public order, or encourages a criminal offence;
  • contains viruses or other code designed to damage or interfere with any computer system; or
  • breaks any law in force.

You also agree not to:

  • add other people’s personal information without a good reason, for example in notices, photos or expense guest names;
  • try to access households, accounts or data that are not yours, or interfere with the Service;
  • scrape, overload or reverse-engineer the Service, or use it to send spam.

If you find a security vulnerability, report it to support@shastack.com and do not access other users’ data while testing.

7. Your content and our app

You own the content you add to HausWise. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and display it only to run the Service, including showing it to the members of your household. We do not sell your content or use it for advertising.

We may remove content, or restrict access to it, if it breaks these Terms or the law, or if a court or government authority requires us to. Where practicable, we will tell you why.

We own the HausWise app, website, name and logo. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for managing your household, which ends when your account closes.

9. The Service is free

HausWise is free to use, and we do not take payments. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you in advance, and you will not be charged unless you choose to buy them.

10. Notifications and emails

We send notifications and emails needed to run the Service, such as sign-up confirmation, password resets and expense updates in your household. We may also send you a daily summary email and occasional emails about new features and updates to HausWise. You can stop these at any time with the unsubscribe link in each email or in the app’s settings. Announcement notifications are sent only if you turn them on. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

11. Availability and changes

We aim to keep HausWise available, but we do not guarantee it will always work without interruption or errors. We may add, change or remove features, and we will try to give notice of significant changes.

12. Deleting your account and suspension

You can delete your account at any time from the app, under More, Settings, Account. For each household you own that has other members, you will be asked to choose a new owner first. What happens to your data is explained in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account, with notice where practicable, if it breaks these Terms, puts other users or the Service at risk, or if the law requires it.

13. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that reminders, notifications or syncing will always arrive on time, or that information in the app is complete or accurate.

14. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or savings. Because the Service is free, our total liability to you is limited to ₹5,000.

15. Indemnity

You agree to cover our reasonable costs from claims caused by your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, except where the claim arises from our own act or omission.

16. App stores

If you downloaded HausWise from the Apple App Store or Google Play:

  • These Terms are between you and us only, not Apple or Google. We, not Apple or Google, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
  • Your licence to use the app is limited to devices that you own or control, as the store’s usage rules allow (for Apple, the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions).
  • We alone are responsible for maintaining and supporting the app. Apple and Google have no obligation to do so.
  • The app is free. To the extent the law allows, Apple and Google give no warranty for it, and any claim, loss or cost from a failure to meet a warranty is our responsibility, not theirs.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for any claim by you or a third party about the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  • If a third party claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
  • You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated by it as “terrorist supporting”, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile network’s terms.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you.
  • Questions, complaints and claims about the app go to us, using the details in section 21.

The store’s own terms also apply to your download.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect, and ask you to accept them where the law requires.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), Uttar Pradesh have jurisdiction, subject to any right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings where you live.

19. Grievance redressal

Complaints go to our Grievance Officer, Shashank Sharma, Founder and CEO, at support@shastack.com. We respond to complaints within 14 working days, either resolving them or giving a written reason.

20. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If one part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may send you notices by email or in the app. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you. We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
